WHAT IS WORLD DRUG DAY?

 • World Drug Day, officially known as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, is observed every year on June 26, declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987.

It’s not a ritual holiday. It’s a resistance movement.

Its goals are:

 1. To educate people about the realities of drug abuse
 2. To fight drug trafficking and organized crime
 3. To support people suffering from addiction
 4. To start honest conversations within families, schools, workplaces, and governments

THEME OF 2025 – “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery for All”

This year, the UNODC is sending a loud and clear message:

“Let’s not punish the addict. Let’s cut the chain—before it tightens around another neck.”

The 2025 campaign focuses on:

 1. Breaking the stigma
 2. Making recovery programs accessible

 3. Involving families and schools in prevention

 4. Stopping the rise of synthetic drugs like fentanyl, nitazenes, and meth

SHOCKING FACTS YOU MUST KNOW
